I was born in Hong Kong and lived there for the first eleven months of my life. After originally planning on moving to either London, England or Toronto, my parents finally settled on Vancouver.

Throughout my childhood I was always told that I should grow up to become a Super-Daughter [dah-dah-dah-daaaah!]. Yes, with a capital S - as in lawyer/doctor/accountant/dentist or some crazy hybrid of all-of-the-above. As a good Chinese daughter, I actually entertained each and every one of those career paths. So imagine my parents' "disappointment" when my chosen major at The University of British Columbia [UBC] was English Literature, with a Psychology minor on the side. See, I thought maybe I wanted to be a teacher.

After finishing my undergraduate degree, I moved to Japan for three years to flood the young, innocent minds there with thoughts of how to speak English properly. In the end, I think of it as an even trade - my students learned about English and Canada . . . and I got to learn about myself.

During my time there, I decided to return to what I had wanted to do when I was a pre-teen tomboy. I had always been very interested in the media and had grown up watching the likes of Tony Parsons, Pamela Martin, John Shorthouse, and Don Taylor on a daily basis. And so I applied to the Broadcast Journalism Program at The British Columbia Institute of Technology [BCIT].

Journalism school was a blast. I graduated in 2007 and haven't looked back. Highlights so far include covering the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics with NBC and working on coverage of Canada's 41st General Election. I am currently the News Coordinator at OMNI News BC.

Don Taylor once advised me, "Find something you love to do, make it your job, and you'll never work another day in your life." That's exactly what I want.

It's a tough job to live up to a sister who is an accountant. I hope to soften the blow on my parents from not being a Super-Daughter by being a media-darling.
